HELP ME NAME MY FIRST ART SHOW!!

13 04 2008

as you might have previously seen, i’ve returned to my long lost love of painting, mainly as a way for me to feel control and relieve stress from being a cube dweller 8+ hours a day. I’m a very creative person and my everyday life doesn’t quite leave much availability for such a time consuming exercise. however, in the past few months i’ve dedicated quite a bit of time to creating pieces i really enjoy using mediums that i previously hadn’t explored.

As for the show, I need a name ASAP
. HELP A GIRL OUT and comment/email me what you think it should be called. If i like it enough i’ll use it and totally plug you for your idea!

These new works will be shown on MAY 2 at the KHYBER from 7pm-9pm. Over so soon!? Don’t worry, DJs will be kickin up the afterparty and throwin down hard with some killer indie spins. the khyber’s famous drink specials will be offered all night and I’ll probably cook up some amazing snacks as well! This is my first professional show and would love to be surrounded by all my wonderful people, so try your hardest to be there!:)

Here are a few samples:

\\DISCLAIMER\\: remember, this is just a sample. the paintings are a LOT larger than the photographs make them out to be and there are many more. Come to the show so you can be wowed by the real deal!

UPDATE :: thanks to paul weinstein, the exhibit will be named City Escape. THANKS FOR ALL THE LOVE!

band of the day: THE WHIGS!

27 03 2008

dear lord… my left ear has officially been blown out. and by 3 illegal looking but probably of age rockers who 1) are the only people[person actually] to successfully pull off mutton chops, 2) are straight out of athens, GA, home of REM, the B-52’s, Perpetual Groove, Indigo Girls, Widespread Panic, Danger Mouse and many more and 3) rock so hard they got a crowd infested with the 40+ demographic to resurrect their retired devil horns and move around for once.

now, for a lack of better words:

– each musician equally on fire as the person next to them
– drums… inCREDible!
– mutton chops… inCREDible!
– keys and vocal effects… inCREDible!inCREDible!inCREDible!
– stage presence… 10!
– they were great to the point that when they finished their set no one moved. they actually moved forward, rather than away, in hopes to get a word with or catch a glance from one of their awe-inspireing favorites
– left 45 year old men looking like a 5 year old who’s mother just told him he could eat an entire tub of ice cream while playing in a ball pit if he so desired

k…. i’m spent. here’s a pic i took at the show. gotta love how handy the iphone is! [don't judge me on the quality though]

Not only a Historic Candidate

19 03 2008

… but also a historic speaker. I haven’t seen or read this yet, but everyone is flipping out about it. I must say though, i’m extremely pissed that i didn’t take time out of my day to see him in philly:(. i’ll post my thoughts on the speech later.

“We the people, in order to form a more perfect union.”

Two hundred and twenty one years ago, in a hall that still stands across the street, a group of men gathered and, with these simple words, launched America’s improbable experiment in democracy. Farmers and scholars; statesmen and patriots who had traveled across an ocean to escape tyranny and persecution finally made real their declaration of independence at a Philadelphia convention that lasted through the spring of 1787.

The document they produced was eventually signed but ultimately unfinished. It was stained by this nation’s original sin of slavery, a question that divided the colonies and brought the convention to a stalemate until the founders chose to allow the slave trade to continue for at least twenty more years, and to leave any final resolution to future generations.

Continuing on the train to a hopeful Zeppelin tour…

Tour Gets Zep’d Down
7 March 2008
FROM: POLLSTAR

The rumors of Led Zeppelin going on tour have been usurped by the rumor that they ain’t.

A band source told the U.K.’s Daily Mirror that singer Robert Plant wants to keep the band’s legacy as is, and the reunion show at London’s O2 arena will remain a one-off engagement.
