No Patti Scilafa tonight. Max Weinberg was on drums.

“When you Walk In the Room” was played for the first time in 33 years. The last time it was played by Bruce and the E Street Band was on April 8, 1976 at the Allen Thetre in Cleveland.

The song was written and recorded
by Jackie DeShannon in 1963 and was also released by The Searchers in 1964.

Another big surprise was “I Wanna Marry You” from “The River” album played at an E Street Band show for the first time since Sept. 11, 1981 at the Rosemont Horizon in Illinois.
The third tour premiere was a cover of Elvis Presley’s :”All Shook Up.” Internet reports say an Elvis impersonator was onstage at the time.

Also played for the first time in awhile was “Land of Hope and Dreams.” The last time that was performed was on Aug. 2 in Santiago, Spain.
Only one song “Working On A Dream” played from the new album. “Outlaw Pete” out of the setlist again for the second straight show. That’s good.

Next show: Tuesday for the final show of four at the Spectrum. The entire “Born In the U.S.A.” album will be played.

from the brakes website:

With profound sorrow and regret, we’re sorry to have to tell you that on Sunday, May 4, The Brakes’ drummer Josh Sack lost his battle with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML). Diagnosed last August, Josh bravely fought the cancer, even regaining his strength long enough to tour in October and drum at rehearsals as recently as last week. Funeral services will be held at
Joseph Levine & Sons in Broomall, PA at 11:30, Tuesday, May 6. http://www.levinefuneral.com

The family respectfully requests that contributions in his memory be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Condolences, memories or messages to the band can be sent to management@brakesband.com

I love/loved Josh Sack very, very much. This loss is completely immeasurable and difficult to absorb. Feel free to post any memories, pictures, videos, love that you have of him. Here’s a collection of some pictures and videos.

HELP ME NAME MY FIRST ART SHOW!!

13 04 2008

as you might have previously seen, i’ve returned to my long lost love of painting, mainly as a way for me to feel control and relieve stress from being a cube dweller 8+ hours a day. I’m a very creative person and my everyday life doesn’t quite leave much availability for such a time consuming exercise. however, in the past few months i’ve dedicated quite a bit of time to creating pieces i really enjoy using mediums that i previously hadn’t explored.

As for the show, I need a name ASAP
. HELP A GIRL OUT and comment/email me what you think it should be called. If i like it enough i’ll use it and totally plug you for your idea!

These new works will be shown on MAY 2 at the KHYBER from 7pm-9pm. Over so soon!? Don’t worry, DJs will be kickin up the afterparty and throwin down hard with some killer indie spins. the khyber’s famous drink specials will be offered all night and I’ll probably cook up some amazing snacks as well! This is my first professional show and would love to be surrounded by all my wonderful people, so try your hardest to be there!:)

Here are a few samples:

\\DISCLAIMER\\: remember, this is just a sample. the paintings are a LOT larger than the photographs make them out to be and there are many more. Come to the show so you can be wowed by the real deal!

UPDATE :: thanks to paul weinstein, the exhibit will be named City Escape. THANKS FOR ALL THE LOVE!
